Developments in the Double Exponential Formulas for Numerical Integration
The double exponential formula, abbreviated as the DE-formula, was first presented by Takahasi and Mori [18] in 1974 as an efficient and robust quadrature formula to compute integrals with end point singularity, e.g. 1 = L (X-2)(1-X)V4(1+J03/4 > C 1) or over the half infinite interval, e.g.-/ Jo OO e~*logxsinxdx. (2) The DE-formula is based on the optimality of the trapezoidal rule over (—oo, o...
متن کاملNumerical indefinite integration by double exponential sinc method
We present a numerical method for approximating an indefinite integral by the double exponential sinc method. The approximation error of the proposed method with N integrand function evaluations is O(exp(−c1N/ log(c2N))) for a reasonably wide class of integrands, including those with endpoint singularities. The proposed method compares favorably with the existing formulas based on the ordinary ...
متن کاملMATHEMATICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICAL REPORTS Function Classes for Double Exponential Integration Formulas
The double exponential (DE) formulas for numerical integration are known to be highly efficient, more efficient than the single exponential (SE) formulas in many cases. Function classes suited to the SE formulas have already been investigated in the literature through rigorous mathematical analysis, whereas this is not the case with the DE formulas. This paper identifies function classes suited...
متن کاملConstruction of fully symmetric numerical integration formulas of fully symmetric numerical integration formulas
The paper develops a construction for finding fully symmetric integration formulas of arbitrary degree 2k + t in n-space such that the number of evaluation points is O ((2n)k/k t), n ~ . Formulas of degrees 3, 5, 7, 9, are relatively simple and are presented in detail. The method has been tested by obtaining some special formulas of degrees 7, 9 and 1 t but these are not presented here.
متن کاملIntegration formulas for the conditional transform involving the first variation
In this paper, we show that the conditional transform with respect to the Gaussian process involving the first variation can be expressed in terms of the conditional transform without the first variation. We then use this result to obtain various integration formulas involving the conditional $diamond$-product and the first variation.
